Life Lately: According to my iPhone

'Life Lately: According to my iPhone' is a series that allows me to share what I've been up to and give you guys a little more insight into my personal life. Most of these end up on my Instagram, so if you'd like to follow along/see more, you can follow me here

Although the weather has been hot & cold lately, it still feels like summer has arrived! Blue skies, beautiful flowers all around, and lots of fun activities. My favourite thing has been going for long walks outside. It's such a pleasure when it's warm out...I could walk for hours! This past weekend I had an engagement party so it was nice to dress up, be with friends and sip on cocktails :)

I hope you all had a wonderful week! XO

Life Lately: According to my iPhone

'Life Lately: According to my iPhone' is a series that allows me to share what I've been up to and give you guys a little more insight into my personal life. Most of these end up on my Instagram, so if you'd like to follow along/see more, you can follow me here.

This week consisted of:

1) Running errands. Whenever I come home from vacation, I always feel like I'm behind on everything.
2) My 2 older brothers live out of town (Florida & Toronto) and are both in this weekend. It feels so nice to have the whole family together.
3) I got my first DSLR camera. I've been researching and wanting one for quite some time now. I got the Canon T5i + 2 lenses. Higher quality photos on the blog? Yes!
4) It's Grand Prix in Montreal so the city's buzzing. Last night I went to Macaroni Bar to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was wild! Packed with people & awesome music. Gotta love a good party.
5) I received my Alt Summit goodie package this week. (Finally!)

I hope you're all having a wonderful week :)

On a side note,
have you heard the song Blurred Lines? I think I've been living under a rock because I heard it for the first time today. I'm seriously obsessed. Take a listen here.

Life Lately: According to my iPhone

'Life Lately: According to my iPhone' is a series that allows me to share what I've been up to and give you guys a little more insight into my personal life. Most of these end up on my Instagram, so if you'd like to follow along/see more, you can follow me here.

This past week my boyfriend and I spontaneously booked a quick trip to Florida. We've been meaning to go for a while now but life kept getting in the way. I have a place down there so all we had to do was find a cheap flight, rent a car and pack our bags. It was such a treat to get away for a few days to enjoy the beautiful weather and relax. We both tend to be workaholics so forcing ourselves to step away from our computers and put our phones on silent was much needed (and appreciated). Sometimes it's hard to 'unplug' from the crazy connected world, but it really does feel good. I'll admit, we didn't unplug the entire time (that would just be too hard) but we would when we'd shop, walk on the beach, have meals etc. It was nice and definitely allowed for more 'active listening' and bonding. We had such a lovely time. Short & Sweet :)

Do you find it difficult to disconnect from your phone/computer?
Do you ever set specific times when you step away or turn it off?
Let me know in the comments below :)

ps. I'm on a plane right now...thank you American Airlines for having wifi!

Life Lately: According to my iPhone

'Life Lately: According to my iPhone' is a new series that I added to my blog last week. It's a way to share what I've been up to and give you guys a little more insight into my personal life. Most of these end up on my Instagram, so if you'd like to follow along/see more, you can follow me here (@techlovedesign).

The past couple weeks consisted of:
1) Trying to cure my ear infection. My right ear has been blocked for 2 weeks now and it's driving me crazy! I'm on antibiotics and am using ear drops but still no progress. Anyone have a magic cure to speed up the process? I'll love you forever...
2) Trip to Toronto. My boyfriend & I drove down to Toronto for a few days this week. It was full of work, walking, shopping, drinks and spending time with family. I'm planning on moving to Toronto in August so it was nice to spend a few days there. (or shall I say 'here' since I'm still here!)
3) 3 days of ALT SUMMIT! This deserves a post of its own but you can read more about it here.

I hope you're all having a wonderful week!

Fancy Friday: Harvard, Burgers and more

As a Social Media Manager, I spend hours on end scouring the web and falling in love with so many different things that I come across. Sometimes these 'things' don't fit into any category but are uniquely wonderful on their own. Whether it's a beautiful design, a cool product or a website that is worthy of sharing, Fancy Friday is a weekly round-up of those 'things' I fancy.

Here we go:

1) Banana Slicer: Remember the strawberry slicer I showed you last week? This little gadget is for your bananas! I love adding banana to my yogurt so this would definitely speed up the process.
2) Harvard Law Sweater: I'm proud to say I graduated from McGill University but Harvard is definitely quite cool ;)
3) Crochet Fringe Cotton Hammock: As I've mentioned before (here), I love a good hammock. They are so relaxing! This woven cotton hammock features a lacy, tasseled fringe and makes an enchanting addition to any outdoor space. I'd love to curl up with a book or take a nice nap :)
4) Picnic Wine & Snack Table: Can you tell I'm itching for summer? I can't wait to enjoy the hot outdoors. This little bamboo table would sure come in handy when sharing a nice glass of wine.
FYI, the legs fold in for easy storage & transport. Cute, right?
5) Hello Sexy Pillow: Well, hello to you too... ;)
6) Blair Waldorf: I love this gal and this photo.
7) Hamburger Wrapping Paper: How funny and creative is this? Set of paper includes: a bun, hamburger, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes, all of the components of a delicious cheeseburger... yum!
8) All You Need is Love and More Coffee iPhone Case: My cousin showed me this cute case the other day and I love it! Very true :) (see more cases I love here)
Have you seen any cool things around the web lately? Let me know in the comments below. (See more Fancy Friday roundups here)

My Home Office

I've shown you mac offices, spoken about what it's like to work from home, and now it's time to share what my own home office looks like. Here are my 'Top 10 Desk Goodies': 1) Flowers (I try to switch them up as often as possible, I find it refreshing and uplifting) 2) Canvas Painting of Jesse (my precious pup who was featured in the oh-so-popular From a Dog's Perspective) 3) Bkr Bottle (I forget to drink throughout the day so keeping a cute water bottle nearby helps remind me) 4) Pink Ion Phone (I'll plug this into my iPhone whenever I have a meeting as it keeps things clear. I also find it more comfortable to use while trying to type and talk at the same time) 5) HOLD SHIFT Mousepad (I won this mouse pad at Blogshop for having one of the top instagram pictures of the class. All around good vibes) 6) iMac & Mouse (duh) 7) Colourful Pens (I like colour coding when I write..plus it keeps thing's pretty!)  8) iPad (good for multitasking) 9) EOS lip balm (there's nothing worse than having chapped lips, it's also really fun to put on...and it's minty fresh) 10) Notebook (lately I've been writing 'to-do' lists when I feel overwhelmed. I find it super helpful in staying organized and being productive)

Well that's it!

What are some of YOUR must-haves on your desk? Let me know in the comments below :)

Well Said, Maya Angelou

Because of our routines, we forget that life is an ongoing adventure - Maya Angelou. I love this quote & sometimes really need the reminder. With work, relationships, routines...life can get a little hectic! I need to be more conscious of this & enjoy life to the fullest. I hope this inspires you to do the same  :)
*This image of me was taken last summer during a California road trip. I remember feeling so happy, free and fortunate.

InstaLove

It's no secret that Instagram has taken the world by storm, inspiring people from all over the world to snap pictures, add filters & share away. Companies have also joined in on the fun, whether it's Facebook buying them for a cool billion dollars, or others who are developing products for this little free but oh so powerful app. Today's post is all about the products that enhance our #instalife.

1. Instagram Socialmatic Camera: It's time to fill the gap between the virtual & real world. With the Socialmatic camera, you'll be able to snap photos, share them with your social networks and have the ability to print them. Polaroid meets Instagram...I love it! Little details that matter: It will have 16GB of internal mass storage with WiFi & 3G connectivity, as well as a SC-HD slot for external storage. Hitting shelves early 2014, we'll have to wait for the price.

2. Softcover Instagram Book: These softcover book are designed with your Instapics in mind. Simply upload your photos, choose different layouts and have them printed. (Available in 2 sizes, 40 pages, starting at $10.99)
3. Projecteo: It's time to go old school! Turn your Instagram photos into teeny tiny slides & project them onto a screen. Slide film doesn't have pixels, meaning you get beautiful images from a device the size of a matchbox. This project was a huge hit on Kickstarter and got their funding goal in under 24 hours! 4. Instacube: A digital photo frame with your Instagram feed! Once you log in, photos from your Instagram feed will be pushed to the screen immediately (using wifi). The top button allows you to switch between viewing your own photos, photos of friends or even a specific hashtag. Next time you throw a party, place the Instacube in a main area & have all your guests use the same hashtag while they're at the party. Facebook photos have also been integrated into the system & speakers are on their way.
5. Casetagram: Want to turn your pictures into an iPhone case? Now you can. Snap it, place it, and case it. This website is super easy to use and offers tons of layouts to choose from. There's even an app available so you could create & customize on the go.
Have you seen any other cool Instagram products? Which of these would you have to get? Let me know in the comments below or via Twitter/Instagram: @techlovedesign
